The thing is that you don't have to just lay there and not say anything. A good massage therapist will work with you so that you don't tense up. She sure helped me out of some serious hip pain a few years ago with only 2 sessions. And yes, I had to learn to just let go and let her do her job - TRY and relax. But I'm grateful for her healing touch. I can understand tho that it could be unsettling to be touched by a 'stranger'.
