What Really Matters

Wow.

It's hard to feel sorry for myself for not getting vacation time when other face such sorrow. My talented jewelry friend Marie Christine lost her mother suddenly and unexpectedly.

Count your blessings and give love to your friends and family. Because you just never know when you won't get a chance to again.

She shared this short quote with some of us...

I am standing upon the seashore; a ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and is just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her: and just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!", there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "There she comes!"
And that is dying.

Hugs to you all.

I hope this isn't too long..
This is a poem that has gotten me through some tough times. I had a couple year period of time awhile back where I lost a lot of people that were close to me all at once it seemed. Someone shared this with me and it really helps me. Even now.

When Someone Dies

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow.

A bird gives the message back to
the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry.

People disappear, but they
never really go away.

The spirits up there put the sun to
bed, wake up grass, and spin the
earth in dizzy circles.

Sometimes you can see them
dancing in a cloud during
the daytime, when they're supposed
to be sleeping.

They paint the rainbows and
also the sunsets and make
waves splash and tug at the tide.

They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes.

And when they sing windsongs, they whisper to us, don't miss me too much. The view is nice and I'm doing just fine.

What a beautiful quote. One of my best friend's grandmother recently passed away too. I'll have to send this on to her.
